The Wine Farm is owned and operated by Anna and Neil Hawkins in the very southern reaches of Gippsland, near the gorgeous “Prom” (Wilson’s Promontory). Planted between 1989 and 1994, the property is just 50km from the Southernmost tip of Mainland Australia, a true cool climate. Since buying the vineyard in 2014 Hawkins family have farmed it organically, converting to Demeter Biodynamic from 2018. It’s a magical little site with a thick layer of quartz-flecked humus, rich in organic matter, atop a layer of clay riddled with coffee rock. It’s planted to Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Syrah (from which a Rose is made).
The Hawkins family commitment to biodynamics and authenticity is absolute. Leading a conversation in terms of what is possible. All fruit is estate grown from their 8000 vines planted on The Wine Farm.
