“The moment that captured my interest for wine making and agriculture really came to light when I started working for Konpira Maru in 2013. I was studying a Bachelor of Agriculture at the time and went on to get experience at some of the biggest wineries and suppliers in Australia and New Zealand.
After spending time in sales, working as a cellar hand, assistant winemaker at many large wineries, I came back to Konpira Maru as a winemaker. I decided have a crack at the side hustle. This is where Dazma Wine Company was born, during the height of Covid-19.
Being from Victoria myself, I’ve always admired the wine that comes from here. Especially those from the King Valley which Al and Sam introduced me to in my early days with them. I was even lucky enough to source fruit from their vineyard in the Whitlands, a subregion of the King Valley, plus fruit from further down the mountain.
Having many a non-wine drinking friend, I wanted to make wine that was approachable. Wine that could be drunk from a mug around the fire, from a cup at the park or a glass over dinner. A wine that doesn’t discriminate.”
