Poachers Vineyards are a family run business. The small family business started 28 years ago and has been built around their love for good food and wine that is shared with family and friends.
From simple beginnings of artisan smokehouse they have grown to include the Smokehouse Restaurant, the Wily Trout Vineyard, farm shop, cellar door country wedding and event destination.
Now in the hands of the next generation; Will Bruce was born with wine in his veins and mud under his fingernails. The combination of old vines, new blood and an enduring passion for growing premium cool climate grapes, is producing wines of exceptional character. To underline Will’s impact on the vineyard, the Poachers Vineyard label has been launched – proudly keeping everything in the family.
The Poachers & Wily Trout vineyards are planted on the northeast facing slopes of the granite hills that wrap around the restaurant and cellar door. Over the last few years, there have been significant plantings to both extend the range of varieties grown, as well as a diversity of clones to provide a greater depth to the palate of the wines.
